Three in a row, OBU record their third win in the 2009 Hardham Cup

A review is to follow...

20/06/09 OBU ENJOY FIRST TRIP TO MAORIBANK PARK : The OBU Premiers enjoyed a hard fought 13-5 over Rimutaka at Maoribank Park.
The game was a stop start affair, with lots of scrums and lineouts. This meant that OBU were not able to dominate the match as they would like, as they were unable to build much momentum.
OBU's star performance was by lock, Sam Kilgour. He dominated the lineout and was strong around the field. The game again showed that Sam has a bright future with OBU.
OBU scored two tries, to Sam Hall and Nathan Elley. Sam Hall also licked a penalty.

13/06/09 OBU START HARDHAM CUP WITH WIN: The OBU Premiers started the Hardham Cup with a 17-5 win over MSP 'B' at The Basin Reserve.
The home side started strongly and had the upper hand for the first quarter of the game. MSP came back into the game strongly and the game was in the balance at halftime.
OBU played better in the second half as they wore MSP down as the game progressed. OBU were able to apply pressure on the visitors which resulted in MSP giving away numerous penalties.
Halfback Sam Hall kicked four penalties in difficult goal kicking conditions, which was complemented by a try to Stu Simonsen.
All the forwards played really well and helped grind MSP down. The backs played well and defended strongly for large periods of the game.
It was a hard game, but the win will have given the team a lot of confidence.

19/6/09 CONGRATULATIONS SNAKEY: OBU would like to congratulate Conrad Smith for winning the Personality of the Year award, at The Dominion Post Wellington Sportsperson of the Year awards dinner. Well done Snakey!

19/6/09 NETBALL FUNDRAISER: OBU's sister club, The Victoria University Netball Club, is having a movie fundraiser. They have a fundraising screening of Transformers 2 on Thursday 25 September at Reading Cinema, starting at 830pm. 10/06/09 THE SEASON SO FAR: You will have noticed that the Premiers side had their first win of the season on Saturday (6 June) by 30 to 28 over Upper Hutt at Upper Hutt. The team showed a lot of character in coming back from a 13 to 28 deficit. Congratulations to Dave, John and the side.
We now start the Hardham Cup round playing MSP B at the Basin Reserve on Saturday. We need all your support to ensure the team carries on with the good progress they have made. Two clubs, Johnsonville and Rimutaka will be looking for promotion. It is important that we get out and encourage the side.
The draw for the Hardham cup is:
13 June MSP B @ Basin Reserve 3pm
20 June Rimutaka away
27 June Wests away
4 July Johnsonville Home
11 July Wainui away
18 July Avalon Home

This could change. Keep an eye on the local paper for the draw each week.
Our Senior ones finished 6th with a convincing 40 to 12 win against Upper Hutt on Saturday and now go into the second round with confidence.
Senior 2's were 5th and have progressively gained in confidence over the season. The top two sides, in this competition, move up to the senior 2nd competition. The side has a good team spirit and are looking forward to a great second round.
